The building of Me and My House

As a young Christian in 1996, I was actively involved in my local church and growing. With a whole new perspective on life, I no longer cared about how much money I made at work, but my heart was stirring with a desire to eternally impact people. Around the same time, I received word that my job would be ending. So, I began praying each day, "Lord, whatever you want to do with my life, it is yours. Just show me." While reading my Bible one day, I came across Jesus saying, "What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs" (Mt 10:27). I knew immediately that God was calling me to full-time ministry. I did not know what that meant exactly, but God helped me to just trust Him.

My job ended in May of 1997 and at 30 years old I moved back into my parent's home and began renting their basement. I had $30,000 saved but I thought it would be unwise to spend so much money living on my own with no prospects of income. I spent the next three years seeking to know God, serving in various FBA ministries, and waiting. While helping at a new apartment complex children's Bible study, which was started by a FBA single adult, God began to burden my heart. Trained through Evangelism Explosion at FBA just months before, I began visiting the children's parents and saw the LORD save many. It was such a time of growth and joy in my life. My burden, desires, and joy confirmed this as the ministry God had ordained for me. I knew there was nothing I would rather do with my life.

I was excited, but still didn't have any clue how I would work in this field full-time. But God met all the needs. A friend put me in touch with a Christian lawyer who incorporated Me and My House at no charge. Someone donated vans. An apartment complex gave us free space to use for outreach. Graphic designers created a logo, brochure, and newsletters for us at no charge. A printing company decided to print all our materials at no charge. People began supporting the work financially as they saw the fruit. On November 15, 2000, as my bank account dwindled to zero, I received my first check from the ministry (my first income in 3 years)! And as a faith missionary who raises his own support, the Lord has provided for me every month since then!!!

God's Game Plan

Me and My House ministries exists to glorify God by ttransforming culture by going to reach forgotten families and communities through the love of Christ. That will happen when we make disciples who will reach our world for Jesus Christ because they find abundant joy in losing their lives for Jesus sake and for the gospel (Matt 16:25). I have seen God use the apartment complexes (little villages) to take the scales off my eyes and give me compassion for the harassed and helpless people around me (Matt 9:36). As we love on the children in the community through various programs, God makes parent's hearts receptive for when we will come tell them about Jesus. As families are saved, we disciple them and involve them into a biblically sound, local church. I want to provide an opportunity for Christian brothers and sisters to share in the joy of following Jesus and becoming a fisher of men (Mt 4:19)! Won't you come join us?
